Throttle Cable
Can anyone tell me how I'd go about getting an extended throttle cable suitable for a 40+ if I was trying to fit my Seagull to a steering system?
Re: Throttle Cable
Easy enough to make your own. Buy some cable and sheath from your local bike shop. Mention it is for a tandembike if you wish it to be extra long. Make a mould of the existing two ends (though you may find a bike break end will fit into the throttle lever with a small bit of filing) using clay, plasticene, dental materal etc. Clean and tin the ends of cable and then fill your mould with molten solder whilst dipping the end of cable in while applying heat.

Cheers Hugz, great bit of information, and easy to understand. Being a dental technician I work making moulds daily.

Mercury amalgam or gold for the cable ends?outboard wrote: Being a dental technician I work making moulds daily.
Use gold then it will be a very valuable seagull

H-A
Re: Throttle Cable
Amalgam sounds good. It's harder and a wee bit cheaper than gold.

Re: Throttle Cable
Tandem gear cables are 2100mm long & have stainless steel inners, that you have to use Laco acid plumbers flux to solder or silver solder the throttle lever nipple in place, they all ready have one almost the right size for the carb.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
