Forty + throttle lever

Post by borzio12345 »

Hi all, I've been cleaning a forty + with villiers carb (SJP 880B6), that I bought last week, prior to starting as it hasn't been used for a few years. I have a small problem with the chromed throttle lever that I'm hoping one of you will sort for me. Believe it or not I've stripped and reassembled the carb, plug and points with no problem having been very careful how they dismantle, but, being over confident as I thought it was simplicity itself,I detached the cable from the throttle lever after opening it up, didn't note the order the parts came off, and I can't work out the sequence for putting it back together properly. I know how to attach the cable to the top body through the lower body tunnel, but it is the position of the other parts that has me stumped. Could someone advise on the correct sequence or point me in the direction of a parts diagram? many thanks in advance for your help.

It appears to be lever, fibre washer, followed by steel washer (with square hole), spring and finally retaining screw.

The fibre washer probably has a little ridge around its central hole, that goes downwards.

The parts book, and the diagram on the website show it as one assembly with no break down

thanks very much, telling me that showed me that I had put the spring with the prop parts, that was why the the top screw didn't tighten the whole thing up.

you've saved what is left of my hair...................cheers
