as above, i have a 4 hp engine no esc 181 hh1, problem is after pushing my long-liner for a while engine stops,block is to hot to touch.
she is certainly pulling water through, and then i get steam, have done a back flush water pouring out the vents, could it be maybe one or two vanes have broken on the impeller, have ordered a new impeller from john, not sure how to strip the lower half to have a look at the impeller, all advice and help most wellcome.

done a back-flush today still coming out the vents no problem, put it in the test tank 6ft by 4ft pit that i dug in the garden with steel reinforced concrete walls water streaming out when idling, put her into gear water still coming out but not as much when idling, i would have thought when in gear with half throttle a better stream of water. going out for mackerel tomorrow so see how she performs.

if the water reduces flow when the prop is turning in a tank,,,, that is quite normal. if the same thing happens on the boat though (whch i doubt) you have a problem! try removing the prop when testing in the tank and see what happens
