sure is, it is an easy job to make another one, just need a cork out of a wine bottle drill a hole and put the spindle through it and shape it down with a fine file or sandpaper, might take a couple of goes, or if you have a lawnmower shop that has been there for a long time they might even have the corks as a lot of older motors have the same sort of taps.

See the FAQs on the website for details of restoring dried (but not broken!) corks, fitting new corks and method of preserving them.

If you can't find the right 'Ewarts corks' look at http://www.britishseagullparts.com/fuel-tap.htm for the alternative O-ring repair.

I always believe that if you are going to quote someone else's work you should give full credit to the person and where you saw it first....no problem then to link to it if you give full credit where credit is due...........

This silicone rubber "O" ring solution was first published by Dr. Pacheco de Psicología on his website:

http://www.idpp.org/idpp_eng/seagull_en ... ng.htm#top

or

http://www.idpp.org/idpp_eng/seagull_en ... #fuelvalve

The rest of the website has other great content worth a read ....:)

Does an 'O' ring fix really work? The few codges that I've had the misfortune to run into weren't good - either in curing a leak or the action of the tap.
I understand that it's a little more difficult for overseas folk, but I believe the only real cure is a replacement cork - available from John.

Nah... John gets them abroad very quickly indeed. Is the English postal system up and running again?

This week I got some Viton O-rings in the correct size from an industrial supplier, McMaster-Carr and did the o-ring fix, it worked great! The fuel tap now shuts the fuel off.
