I don't know about the pictures, more about advertising than the truth I think, the first post of pictures, first picture, that's not the right angle for a tiller arm, if the motor is straight on the transom, second picture that looks a massive gearbox and prop for a little forty model, next picture looks more like a pencil line added or is the rope tied to the bow, Singapore, cant see a problem with that one, the last one, seagulls on the boats, take the last picture for instance, the shadow looked to be drawn in, especially the last one and all the seagulls look to be drawn in too, not that good I might add.
Call me a pessimist.

I agree with H-A
No photoshop in those days!

Second pic looks to be of an LS. YES KEITH, the gearboxes and props REALLY ARE THAT BIG. (i had to look at mine to confirm)
The quality of some black and white photos loses a lot of clarity so can make things difficult to see with any great detail. in other words they get a bit "grainy" and out of focus (especially when you blow them up to try and look at something in detail as we are here)

I can well beleive the last pic. 2 longshaft 102 plus motors on the back of a barge. fantastic stuff.

More likely one of CharlesUK's tiller extensions, any trees about?
Photoshop - never used it, I'd better point out that other photographic software is also available.

Not in the days before computers! When I need an extension I use a bit of cut off broom but anything will do if it fits or can be clamped on, Antarctic? how about an ice axe.

These pics came from a seagull brochure, but looking closely I think you are right in that one of the photos has had the motors drawn in!! Good old seagull ads.
