Just boxed my cylinder, crankshaft and piston up, no measurements so guess I should open up again and record the dimensions. Ill try and get after it early next week. and will post results.

re the gearbox: yes they are identical and as per the drawing there is a bronze bearing inserted both top and bottom into the aluminium sleeve that is pressed into the box after assembly and held in place by the set screw at the top.

Charles will come up with details I am sure.

I had no idea that there were different "Versions" of a 50mm piston.........total cc stayed the same did it not?

It's funny how the early OA's had a bottom feed straight out bowl, the later ones had the top feed swan neck bowl as did all other Marston's (sexy) and the with the introduction of the SN/SNP/SD returned to the bottom feed straight out bowl again, from the ones I have the early OA and SD seem to share the same bowl with the same logo placement but of course this could have been changed, also during the Marston period the carbs appear the same but have several different carb numbers and I'm still tring to work out which goes with what :?:

Interesting stuff all in the name of correctness

Thanks Guys.

Sent PM Oyster.

Numbers and correctness I have absolutely no idea but numbers on what is stuffed are below for you all.

I just need the bowl. The float may be as whatever a float is but I will use the needle and seat I have..........looks more as 46/..... but very different aye.

I will let you know what the jet numbers are just for info soon.

That carb is a 46/032 that was fitted to a series 1 OA & that I'm aware of, nothing else in the Marston range.

From what I gather the early series 1 OA's had a bottom feed straight out float chamber not the later swan neck type also the early intake trumpet had wasted/recessed centre section.

The one that is broken looks like painted aluminium.

I thought all the early ones were satin plated brass/bronze.

22-025 is a later 102 part, listed in the parts book.

I was wondering why a plated brass 46/032 body would have an aluminium bowl. I thort just saving the bucks but maybe back then scrimping was not really that much of a concern. A boater could afford one or not..........

So many years to get things out of whack.

I find this all very interesting as information and discussion is very forthcoming.

Thank you
