I have two of these, one for restoration at some point. I believe they are a 1950s engine approx. Nice little engine.

1950-54 1hp Mallard 32cc, I have several Mallards & Coventry Apex's, I think they were all built in Coventry by C. H. Hayley.

I don't think any records exist which might allow dating of Mallards - engines up to 1957 had little cylindrical tanks, and post-57 engines went to a sem-wrap-round shape of tank.

Most if not all of the small British outboards were eventually manufactured under the Auto Products banner in Coventry and 'Badge Engineered', Haley was originally from Leicester - you should find the name cast on the cylinder on the opposite side from 'Mallard'.

Yes, a nice little motor. Mine both have cast aluminium blocks with a liner, so much lighter than a cast iron block. The poppet valve is an oddball, you adjust the timing to alter the engine speed.
