chrysler 4 carb settings?

Post by Andy stubbs »

Can anyone help with the carb settings on this Chrysler 4. It has the adjuster for rich/lean at the bottom of the carb by screwing the needle valve in/out.
Cleaned out tank and gave it a general clean and with playing with carb settings managed to get it to fire into life.
Any help with this and information on outboard appreciated
Andy

Seat the idle screw, gently.Back it out 1 1/2 turns. This is the starting point, and put the leg in a drum of water, put it in gear. When it warms up turn the screw in 1/8 of a turn at a time, waiting a minute or so between each adjustment to allow it to take effect. When she starts to run really rough, back out the needle again, counting each adjustment until she runs really rough on the rich side.Turn the screw in half the number of adjustments then back out 1/4 turn.
This is the way I do the old black beauty of a '69 Merc 800/80Hp.But the same principle applies to most outboards
