Lerryn 2019

Post by Horsley-Anarak »

Anyone else going ?
We are taking 5 boats this year now my kid are a bit bigger, and other family members want to race.
Will be good to see some of the old faces as we have not been for a couple of years, RBT has promised to buy me a pint for many years.

You've lost that pint H-A. as last time I saw RBT he asked me to bring it back for you & it went flat so I poured it away.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Tons of photos from todays Lerryn Seagull Race on Golant BOATWATCH facebook site :- https://www.facebook.com/GolantBoatOwnersAssociation - Boatwatch
Great event as always despite torrential downpour.

Well that was a little embarrassing

When my crew and I had got back from the pub, still almost no one had finished
Looking at that picture my wash pattern shows that I was not planing, we were over weight carrying a spare engine, my crew was older and heavier than the boat was designed for.
Need to finish this new engine to realise it's full potential as it was not running well and stopped once during the race.
Roll on 2020.

It was a magnificent triumph of seamanship and seawomanship in very challenging conditions.
Take a salute Sir and Mam! (No extra pay or rations, just a salute, thats it. The cloak of duty to the furtherance of marine engineering excellence will nourish and sustain you no doubt.)

No it was OK we were still in the hole, photo to prove it.

I am sure the river police had their speed gun on me at one point

I was amazed how much faster we were than the other boats, RBT's hull with a 170 is quick, second and third were both running Kingfishers on skinny long canoes, they were also quick. May need to try next year, will finish this engine and perhaps build a fast boat. Engine was not happy and struggled to keep going at times.

When are you coming Adrian?

Definitely something I'd like to do, trouble is I'm working overseas at the moment, however that's only temporary (ish)

Yes there is a harbour speed limit, no one exceeded it as far as I can tell, the Police were there watching at all times to make sure it was a safe charity event.
Nobody was injured, lots of people had a great time.

Did people go fast? Yes

Speed is relative, pop down cookie and see for yourself
