Re: hot drive shaft tube
I'm not saying I've seen or felt hot gasses coming out: I'm just trying to find a reason why the gear lever and drive tube would get so hot that I can barely touch them. the locating screw I mentioned is the one that prevents the flywheel from moving out of timing position, under the base plate.

hot drive shaft tube
Have tested my tc 102 in the water. It started out alright, but got consistantly slower.I found that the drive shaft tube, and the gear lever became very hot. Stripped it down and could not initially find anything wrong. Then I found I could move the flywheel up and down approx 3-4 mm due to the loc...
Re: prop bush
thanks Tam and Charles, the fact that the pressure keeps the prop steady on the shaft is really what I was hoping for. The looseness is not important, and in the case of the 13" prop that Tam has very kindly sent me, its exagerated by its size.
prop bush
I,m thinking of renewing the propeller bushes on 3 of my gulls. All the props are a bit loose on the shaft, but I assume thats quite normal, especially after all this time. Problem is, the longer bushes are hard to come by ( 23 mm). I,m wondering if there is a clever way to get over this? Some way of...
Re: propeller
Hi thanks for the message. You're last message said you were'nt sure if you had the parts, so I was just waiting to hear. Yes anyway, very interested! the prop I certainly need, is the gearbox a clutch type? And how much do you want for it all?

replacement coil
while I'm checking other problems on my tc 102, I thought I would try the coil replacement as described by Hugz in the video from 2007. Just one question though: does it matter if the bolts used to mount the coil are stainless steel or non stainless?

Re: tank alterations
Excellent, Charles many thanks, you've saved me a lot of work. I had just looked at a lot of info from 2014 on removal and soldering and decided it was a bad idea for me at least.

tank alterations
I'm thinking of altering the length of a tank so that I can stow the engine down under a narrow hatch. I thought I could swap tanks from another engine , but the fuel tap was on the wrong side, and that would mean the longer fuel hose would be badly routed around the engine block. So if I cut down t...
Re: 102 help
I see what you mean, the plug was carbon colour, ( not white indicating heat) I'm going to put it in the tank again next weekend and go through it again. ( boat out of the water for a while).
Re: 102 help
Can't do the pics at present, but I can say that it is jetted to 10:1 ( 45 no. jet). have checked the water level over the exhaust flange when in use. The spark plug......have used several different plugs, all as recomended by seagull. - no difference. Gone by the book all along. have also tried wip...
Re: 102 help
Hi Nudge. The water flow is really good, no problem, its on the boat things go wrong.. Maybe the engine is just worn out and gets hot when pushed hard with the standard prop. the revs drop off and it gets a bit warm. It then becomes unreliable and dies. As soon as I put on a small prop, it cools dow...
