Re: British Seagull Outboard Engine Servicing - Essex

Sadly I am still getting complaints weekly re this guy and it does not do Seagulls reputaion any credit..

On the up side once anyone has had dealings with him and then finds me, I have another customer for life!

The Caveat must apply, Buyer Beware.

John

Re: Its time for electric seagulls (E.Gulls)

Well done Darren! You have got a lot further than many! The Motor looks well put together and nicely displayed, though the 'elf and hasty' people will cry out in horror at a set of exposed gears and a flywheel whizzing round, (like our older Seagulls!!) when it gets to a real one doubtless a simple ...

Re: oddities

Hi there,

got one just like it here at SOS, or several actually. Of course the hole with wings was for the filler caps of the day, the metal ones, but some of the hex holes were certainly wonky!

John

Re: Its time for electric seagulls (E.Gulls)

I think the idea has merit, especially when British Seagull tell me they no longer have any cylinder blocks!! (That may change if they decide to invest in Silver Century and Forty blocks later in the year. I have seen various conversions of Seagulls, (including that hilarious steam boiler and motor!...

Re: 16ft heavy open GRP boat for sale

Well that did not take long! The advert will stay for a bit but I have had a visit and a firm offer from Les in Erith who is arranging to collect in January. Hope she is going to see more use than I have been able to give her. Les intends to use her on the Non tidal Medway. She will be quite at home...

16ft heavy open GRP boat for sale

I have decided to part with 'Seagull' my 16ft half ton open GRP boat. http://www.eventides.org.uk/images9/Seagull%20dscf1129.jpg She comes with lightly used, shiny Seagull 75 and a purpose made breakback trailer for easy launch and recovery. Also all the spars and new sails to finish what I started ...

Re: Forty Plus for Sale

Hello there, sorry Yes it has gone, but I do have another. This one has come to me from a sailing friend again, again swallowing the anchor. I have not looked at it as yet but it is a forty plus with clutch from about 1986. It looks as if it has been sprayed in preservative and stored, chrome plate ...

Re: John Williams out of action

Hello all, over 3 months waiting now and just running on one cylinder, like a Seagull. Am assured they will get back to me, as the bit of plastic they have left in has to be removed, but when is another matter! As you say, keep drinking the water!

Re: Bing needle - settings

If you have a Bing carb it should be running on a 25:1 mix. If you put more oil in than 25:1 it will replace the petrol and the motor will hunt, unless you raise the needle. But as they run well at 25:1 so why bother. They have to be on 2T for outboards though. As for cooling by mix, well they must ...

Re: John Williams out of action

Hello all, I was sent out of hospital last month with a new filter fitted to prevent the 2 cannonballs rolling down the tubes and and back to work on light duties as but only firing on one cylinder. (like all Seagulls!!) Cannot do anything very energetic! (no change there then!) Got to wait to go ba...
