Ive sorted the problem with the water inlet, I made up some wire deflecters. As recomended on another tread these allow sufficant water to enter the pump housing providing the weeds not too thick . The idea of sharpening the leading edge had crossed my mind, but in the interests of safety didnt try ...

Thanks Charles this what ive been waiting for, its SJP 5528. It is a 40+ and i worked the age to be aprox 1957-58 and as it is only pushing a 14 foot canoe, and hardly ever use full throtle. Do you think i should try it or not take the risk. It hasnt a clutch and still runs on 10:1 mix . Gives me a ...

Do weeedess props work, i have just aquired one from the Bay for my 1957,40+ for £5.55 was this agood deal or what?. Ive had 3/16" machined out of the back to allow for the locking coller. As its going to be some months befor i can try it i just wanted to Know others experiances .

Thanks John I knew i had seen one somewhere, as i suspected your the man in the Know but appers that its not worth the trouble to try to recreate this historical piece in stainless.

I run a 1957 40+, pushing a Gander river canoe (open canoe with a wine glass stern) I also have found problems with excess weed. Just puchased off the bay a new weedless prop for £5.50 + post (bargin I think?)Just minor machineing to be done so it will fit back against the brass shaft locking ring ...
