Hello Erik, I suspect it should be WPCL a Century Plus Clutch Drive. they sell for up to £80 to £100 here in the UK if in good running order. They had slightly less power than the later version with the Amal 2 jet, but the blocks were less liable to corrosion, so have out lasted their replacements...

As a postscript to this I tried the freezer method. It did push out some dents slightly, but I imagine it is more difficult as the metal is so cold. It eventually started to bulge the flat sections so I gave up. In the States there are specailist who insert hydraulic rams into feul tanks to remove d...

Stewart they have not stopped making it. I just took delivery of a case full from Frosts last week! See the links page for Frosts website. Try classic car garages, LandRover Dealers or Agricultural merchants. Last week two owners, opposite ends of the UK bought it for £11 a gallon! share it with a ...

Hello there, the cable on all the 400 series carbs is fixed the same way. To release it push the cable towards the airslide, you will see the end appear at the lower end of the slot with two wide ends. It will come out of the lower end hole, then slide it up the grove and let it go into the top hole...

You are quite right about the 30 grade oil, and if you can still get it it still will work, As will full lead fuel, but I would not recommend either, lots of ash and carbon and whiskers on the plugs! Remember them!? However I question the use of twostroke for motorcyles in a water cooled outboard. T...

Hello there, your motor is a 1964 Century plus and has the shorter bearing crankcase. From 1968 they fitted longer bearings and could safely reduce the mix to 25:1. you have to be using Two stroke for outboards though, as I hope all are.... You will not get away with reducing it as far as 25:1 as th...

Props
Most Seagulls have only one prop they can use, the one they came with! There were many fifferent props to suit different powers and gear reductions. whilst some are swoppable, they may not give any better performance. Some later motors had the option of semi weedless props, eventually all the late m...

You have to have a blocked Jet if it runs on choke. with the Villiers watch out for the secondary jet, use a 10mm spanner on the main jet body and it will split into two parts, revealing the other jet, offset in the top part... See the FAQ page for more on cleaning carbs. Hope this helps, Regards, J...

Hello Andy. any lead with a suppressor in it is over 25 years old! As Seagull suggested replacing the leads every year... Think it's time for a new one! I normally say every 5 years.... At £11.75 for an HT lead and new style cap... ( your cap is 25 years old too I suspect!) Not a fortune to pay... ...

Hello Adam, your Seagull left the factory set to 10:1 mix, with a Villiers Carb I suspect. In 1978 all Seagulls switched to 25:1 with the villiers carb needing a change of needle to achieve this. Only good marine two stroke oil can be used if you lean down the oil to less than 10:1! The days of stra...

Hello there, sadly I have not put a pic of the lever on the site yet, I thought I had, but the one off of the FAQ page does not show all the parts. The moving part of the lever goes onto the base, with the cable attached, then there should be a fibre washer, then a metal one, then the spring, held d...

Hello Tom, This is a longshaft so is not suitable for your canoe anyway.. I have had to put off several buyers from the States for the same reason.. couriers! No matter what expense and trouble I have gone to, they often end up with damage. I am aware this limits my market to those in the UK who can...
