Thanks for all that info B, also good pic of the silencer vent of how it should be. On mine someone has made up a
cable attachement so it can be controlledd from the tiller which I thought was not right

Hi Bruce the gear case number is BES 5782

and the silencer has BES 5748

I thought the Villiers motor was seized but it turns out the drive shaft won't rotate, talk about big teeth in the gear box. will have to figure out how to release the drive pinion or make up a tool to match drive shaft so I can put pressure on it. A while back picked up this Evinrude (1965-7)fold leg. Invented so you can put it into your Goggomobile maybe.

Cleaned all the grunge out of gear box and also finally managed to clean out the tank with a product called CLR.
Which is Calcium Lime Rust. Used a piece of chain and diluted CLR plus a whole lot of shakin, and its clean.
Don't know if this product is avaiable in the UK.
