Re: Lerryn Seagull Race 2018

I shall express embarassment - I don't whether you have one or two LL's, Allen!
I suppose I should have asked Chuki . .
We are looking forward to seeing you next time, it's on Dec Saturday the 21st!

Re: Lerryn Seagull Race 2018

I'm afraid we used just the 170 last year. And won, easily. This year was intended to win even better. Ah well . . . Not knowing whether Horsradish Anorak would turn up I thought to improve power - although in a longer class. The winner had a 170 on a canoe shape about 13 - 14' long with a transom. ...

Re: Lerryn Seagull Race 2018

Well here is a picture pre ignomineous failure - You will think, motors too high in water causing all that froth. No, there are two motors, a 170 and a 102. Attached to quite a narrow skiff transom. Which is well down in the water. The combined weight of both engines, plus me, did not allow a level ...

Re: petrol mix for 102

By the way - how is my message timed at 11.12am and yours at 12.01am?
I know you live in more refined parts . .

Re: petrol mix for 102

Chuki, you got up specially early to look after me. And on Christmas day . . . I shall be thinking of you all the way round. Going to cram this 102 alongside the 170 on the narrow transom. Different powers, different props, different fuel, same driver. Maybe tie the tillers together with a piece of ...

petrol mix for 102

I am extremely old and have not used this motor for a year so have forgotten what mix was used, quite successfully, a year ago.
It's a 102, TC57068, which is coming up as 1957-58.
Fitted with Amal 416.

Does it require smelly 10.1 or can I get away with 25.1?

I'm very grateful.

Re: Lerryn Seagull Race 2018

Well what do you costume up for 'Strictly come Boating'? - this was the RLYS Commodores choice . . Yes we are both sequined at top, head and front. It is difficult to attain the dress and not freeze to death. Last year's 'By the Seaside' theme got a bloke from Penryn in his onepiece. Yes just his on...

Lerryn Seagull Race 2018

Seagull Race 2018.jpg Our Fun Filled regatta race is nearly upon us again - on the 29th December. I know it's the only tide available but it's pretty near the Christmas hols this time! (I've had to get a theme costume this time . . . ) Signing on starts 9am. Mince pies, mulled wine, and I expect th...

Re: Seagull Race Lerryn 2017

Thank you for the information Robin. I hope I shall be grateful at a time of need in more arduous circumstances. He could have been of more use if he had been moored further down the estuary which is wider and windier instead of blocking the narrow river channel by Lerryn Quay house. We do have more...

Re: Seagull Race Lerryn 2017

Robin - you've done it!! The chap (the only entrant) in the swimmers was a superb bloke from St Mawes. With a beautiful accent. Excellent sense of humour. Well you needed that to enter into the spirit of 'being at the seaside'!! Andy Them bloody coppers in their huge rib - what were they doin...

Re: Seagull Race Lerryn 2017

Robin - according to my instant research, you click your post edit, then click on attachment at the bottom which connects you to your computer download or pictures file which you can then attach. I think. But I know there is a very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful reader out there who will wan...

Re: Seagull Race Lerryn 2017

I don't know about early - it's only three weeks!
And the weather will be balmy down here - and most of us speak English . . .

Anyway this years theme could involve BATHING COSTUMES

Seagull Race Lerryn 2017

Well - you'll know from the Lerryn website it's on the 30th December - the only tide which allows everyone into the pub at mid afternoon after a Saturday race . . So, if anyone is reeally interested I'll divulge this years theme thought up by the committee a short while ago but no lovely poster made...

Lerryn Seagull Race 2016

Possibly December 27th?
The tide appears to confirm this probability, but will it change later? (no not the tide)
Dress theme I have not heard - next year I shall be a resident and more up to date . . .

Re: Lerryn Race

Excellent result Gareth - and first time!
Yes you must attend next time; I had never heard of the 'spirit of the race' being so discussed before. You are the forerunner of the difference!
