Clutch rod thread + any exhaust tube tips?

Hello, Can anyone confirm if the clutch rod thread is 1/4 BSF? It's apparently the only die I don't have in 1/4 to check.. Before I buy one! And.. Can anyone give me any tips regarding a tight fitting exhaust tube? I've had plenty stiff ones in the past, and tend to just manage with a bit of messing...

Re: Fvp6152

Shame! I have to say, most of the motors I've had posted to me have been packed terribly.. not had anything so badly broken though!

Re: Fvp6152

Mine has this tank too.. but I would agree the round one has a particular classic look which is more attractive. I think the long range one is more practical for me though, I will be doing some long runs :) How many FV/FVP motors do you have now Tam??

Re: Dismantling my FV

Hey Jon, I used a very small fine brush (model shop) and mixed the paint with about 1/4 white spirit so that it would go on thinner. This flywheel cover is pretty good though, a more worn one would be trickier I expect! I have thought about making one of these too, I was thinking more along the line...

Re: Dismantling my FV

After thinking about it.. In case things are far from straight forward, I'm not going to strip it right down until after the season, as I want to use it on my tender. I am just going to clean it up to look smart for now. I've started with the flywheel.. it popped off easily with a suitable hammer, i...

Re: Dismantling my FV

Thanks, very helpful photo. I can see that's going to give me some entertainment! How agreeably does that knurled section tend to slip out of the the crankcase? I'm thinking heat and rubber gloves for grip.

Re: Dismantling my FV

Thanks for the caution Charles, I'm well aware of the situation with these engines, that's why I'm being extra careful and asking for advice from somebody experienced. Pics will follow :)

Re: Dismantling my FV

Thanks Tam. Heat it is then. If I'm going to restore it, I'd rather do it properly and strip it right back so I know what's what with everything.. otherwise I just won't be happy :) Knurled and threaded drive tube? Sounds like fun and games ahead! Worth it though, I think the entire thing (down to t...
