Sometimes a few sharp smacks on the casing around the pinion bushing with a hard mallet is enough to make driving out the pinion gear & bushing easier - though I haven't found that to be the norm for my motors.

Once in a while, a lady or two gets brave enough, yes.

Although I thought the retaining bolt was 5/16 Cycle thread (26 tpi, 60 degrees). Above it's listed as 5/16 brass (26 tpi, 55 degrees). Not sure which is correct.

All good - I know what went wrong, so I won't be making that mistake twice. Plus the misses did well - so I had something to smile about...

Just thought I'd whine about the proliferation of otherwise good 2nd hand seagull parts listed on eBay that appear to have been blasted lately - mating faces, bushings & all, more often than not. Not a fan.
