I recently refinished a steel tank -
After stripping it, I sprayed it with a light coat of self etching primer, and then finished with some Valspar anti-rust enamel -
This was just rattle-can paint, not fancy 2-part, and I think other brands might work as well - Rustoleum, for example.
After air ...

Re: Transport Mount
Sigh ......... Somehow I just knew there'd be no satisfying you folks
Actually, I didn't think it was all that close before - Everyone else did, though.
The bar just sticks out a little more than the motor foot - I think the camera angle makes it look much more "protuberant", than it really ...

Re: Transport Mount
Well, whether by accident or intent, you guys have managed to make me paranoid !
Although I didn't originally think there would be a problem, after elaborate calculations, I convinced myself that under extreme circumstances, the car could contact the motor foot.

Re: Transport Mount
You're right about securing it - I have a bunch of ratchet straps, and I'll use one of those in any case.
I also thought of drilling through the the thumbscrew handles, and using a long shackle padlock through them.
There are some outboards I've seen with that feature. Might keep it from walking ...

Transport Mount
I posted in the "help" forum earlier about my drooling motor, and as a side note, I thought some here might be interested in this.
Since Seagulls DO leak a bit, and since I need to trailer my boat, I wanted to have a non-messy way to transport the motor.

Re: Carbon Drooling
Have you ever noticed that even a couple of weeks after your seagull has run and it's sitting on a stand it still dribbles some oil from the pump housing? Black and slimy. YUK . It's all perfectly normal for 10:1 or 25:1 mixes. I'd be worried if i didn't see any gungy mess.
Just my thoughts ...

I don't know that I really need help (perhaps, depending on who you ask), but I do have a question .
I have a 40 Plus Mark II, 25/1 motor, that I just got running again, after it sat for about 20 years.
Cleaned & gapped points, new plug, went through carb and checked needle, etc, etc -
It fired on ...

Re: An FVP in USA
We do not have brown Tufnol over here, would someone be willing to sell me three of the tube pieces , correct size or a length of the tubing?
We do indeed have Tufnol here - It's just another name for phenolic laminate, and It's available in many forms, in several grades.
Here's a link to some of ...

Re: Very low spark on 102 model AC
You should have some serious fun removing those 2BA screws :D
Do you mean the little flat head screws, that are part of what's holding the iron blocks to the base plate ?
Those are a bear to get out- mine wouldn't budge with a regular screw driver, even well soaked with penetrating oil.

Re: Very low spark on 102 model AC
This youtube clip is a good giude on how to test a villiers coil. Its not a seagull motor but its running the same ignition.
http://youtu.be/7l-bXz9FBf0
I think it's an even better guide to replacing a failed coil with one of the ( much cheaper) 19373 "short" coils .
Which happens to be very ...
