Re: 2 stroke oil

Your oil is correct. TCW3 is the right oil for outboards.

How old is the petrol? Fresh petrol has more volatile parts and starts better.
How much oil did you use in the petrol? And is this the correct mixture for your Seagull/carburettor?

Re: Built for Antarctic use.

I like the
DIESEL ONLY
sticker
(third picture)
but you would need quite a lot more compression to get it to run.

The cheapest rate I could find (shipping only) to Melbourne is 300 euros.
I would still need to make a box and you would have to pick it up from Melbourne.
Which company goes from NL to TAS?

Make me an offer I can't refuse!

Re: serial number starts with AT or AD or what?

The motor doesn't turn, something is stuck. I have too many other projects, so this one is for sale as is. Any reasonable bid will do. Pickup in Krommenie, Netherlands. Maybe I could bring it if I have to be in the neighborhood for my work, but that is still in the Netherlands.

serial number starts with AT or AD or what?

At first it looked like AI, later on like AT, but both do not exist. Now I'm thinking about AD because the time frame is correct.

Re: Gearbox Oils

Now I have the new oil I thought I would do some testing with known quantities of oil and water emulsified in the kitchen blender..... However this idea has been vetoed by the executive and is currently on hold. AJ You have to warm up the executive to this idea. Maybe start with virgin olive oil an...

Re: Original?

You are correct Charles, Radiata, although extremely common in Australia as plantation timber, would not have been available in the UK, nor is it grown there in commercial quantities. so some one, what were the packing cases constructed from? AJ If you want to be this original, than we would need t...

Re: thrust and bhp

Providing your using the same gearbox & prop. Not at all. That is just what we are comparing! Static Bollard Pull for various Seagulls. Just tie a rope to a tree, put some sort of measuring thing between the rope and the boat, and start your Seagull. See how hard it pulls at full throttle, ment...

Re: thrust and bhp

Yes it does! If you tie your boat to the jetty & put it in gear you will find your maximum revs at WOT are (at a guess 3200) depending on gear ratio & prop. What I like about this Static Bollard Pull is that you take the boat out of the equation. As long as the propeller is below the bottom...

Re: Coil

Hi the condenser is built into this ignition sytem In other words, you can not access the condensor, it is somewhere in the black blob of plastic. Now it depends on what the defect is of the condensor. -1- the condensor has developed a short. -2- the condensor is an open circuit. The second possibi...

Re: thrust and bhp

Then take the electronic bathroom scales to bits, the load cell goes into the thrust block, the screen & battery, where ever you can see them. The numbers will be hard to read as they will dance about a lot, don't worry about leverage & the powerhead wanting to move backwards, this is effec...

Re: thrust and bhp

[quote="Adrian Dale"] Boat speed is directly related to the water line length (WL) of the vessel being propelled through the water (1.33 X Square root of the WL measured in feet) = speed in Knots. This equates to a 3 meter dingy having a maximum speed of approximately 4.5 Knots. This speed...

Re: thrust and bhp

But how to measure thrust? I could put an electronic scale between the boat and the thrust block to measure forward thrust, but that does not take into account that the outboard pulls on the transom backwards. I'm willing to build something that will work, but don't know what to build. For the Rhino...
