Re: B.M.B. Mariner

Had no idea this was the Mariner you were talking about the other day! Not heard it called that,.. The BMB inboard was the one fitted to the 'cockleshell hero's' boats.

There was one on display in the Maldon , Essex, Joint Services Museum .

No chance of any spare parts so a museaum exhibit these ...

Re: fitting a wipac marc 3 coil

Hello Kevin

As far as I am aware the only sealing is on the HT lead as it comes out of the coil. This needs to be sealed with silicone once fitted.

Hope this helps.

John

Re: Seagull model 40

Many have tried o rings but few had sucess. Stick to cork!

One of the problems with Ethanol in the fuel is it eats rubber!

Cork simpler.

Don't know why you hve a problem with speed of load, suspect more to do wth your internet conection than the site, loads in a flash here.

Floorboards for Avon Redcrest

If anyone has a Redcrest and would like it to be a little, no a lot, more stable, I have a good set of boards, plus the longtitudinal beam and all the screws here, £25.00 pick up from Tillingham.

We have seen L3 and L4 on Army and Navy issued Seagulls of this era. No idea what they mean, lost in the mists of time!

Re: Seagull 40+ for sale

Sadly unless a Seagull of this age and type is immaculate, and seen running and pumping water at point of sale they will only fetch £30 for spares, if that. So many being scrapped now as it's not cost effective to change the ignition and keep them running unless they are immaculate otherwise.

This ...

Re: Seagull 40+ for sale

Hello there,

I would have thought anyone who was capable of joining the SOS Forum would have done a simple search on EBay Gumtree or the like and would have a rough idea of the value of one of these. Not many many who have really no idea! I still have the mail telling you what it was worth??

I ...

Re: Seagull 40+ for sale

Have to say I agree with Oyster and should state I am unhappy to see this sort of money spoken about for a very old Seagull

To the buyer, this is a pre 1967 motor with a Villiers ignition.

If one of these was offered for sale in a running condition, pumping water, then I would epect it to sell for ...

Re: 4- vs 5-bladed prop on Silver Century

Yes the CLW prop would be the semiweedless for the WSPC models...

They work but not quite as well as the 5 bade Hydrofan. Just look more modern!

Stainless Steel tank straps

At last I have managed to prise the tank straps out of my tame engineers hand.

He had been hiding for 2 years, what with WhuFlu and two new knees!

I have also at last got fresh stocks of the stainless exhaust straps.

See the 'Spares For Sale' page of the SOS site!
