Re: Seagull sports

Hi mate,

I'll keep my 2 good silver century engines and also my 5R. But the Sports would be better off with someone who will use them rather than sitting in my shed. I'd like to do another foiling boat but using the 5R rather than the sports.

What are your plans?
A.

Seagull sports

Hi all, I'm having a big clear out at home and I need to downsize my seagull collection. I'm thinking about selling my 2 x seagull sport engines. I have a 1996 model and a 2004 model. Both are unmodified and in good running condition. Is anyone interested? Engines are located in Auckland New Zealand...

Re: Birds Of A Feather

Hi guys, Had a great turnout for the screening in Auckland. 165 tickets sold and everyone we've spoken to really enjoyed it, even the wives who got dragged along by their partners! We weren't able to get into any of the British film festivals and are lacking contacts for cinemas to show it in the UK...

Re: New boat for Seagull Sport

I found with my Silver Century, the best thing with the Amal carb was to run a 30 & 40 jet with a 10:1 fuel mix. Although the best thing to do in my opinion is to get rid of the Amal altogether and put a 416 carb on.

Mr Nudge,

If you need any help before Manukau give me a call. I have plenty of spare parts for the engines etc.

Re: New boat for Seagull Sport

Yes, boat will get another run at Manukau, although we will use a different foil package. The front foil will go in favour of a ski for the moment while we get aft foils working properly. The aft foil build tolerances were too great and they're giving up problems with unequal stall. The stbd foil al...

Re: New boat for Seagull Sport

You wouldn't be so complimentary if you had seen her running at Whangamata last weekend! Flat consistent water and she's fantastic. Introduce the rolling quarter-wake while overtaking a slower boat and she isn't quite do impressive. The front foil stalls instantly and she nose-dives hard at 20 knots...

Where in Auckland are you. I'm on the north shore. (beach Haven) (I'm hoping to go in the dinghy class for the easter race)
Let me know if you want a hand to tune up your engine. I'm reasonably good with the standard motors.

Re: New boat for Seagull Sport

We opted for 'L' foils like on the americas cup yachts. V foils catch a lot of weed and can't self clean like an L with aft rake. We also have the problem of running aground while on the foils, to ours need to be able to survive an impact and retract when a pin is sheered. So a bit more of a challen...
