I've never actually kept track of the hours. I just finished a Century Plus full restoration that I'm sure took me well over several hundred hours. I just sold a Forty Plus and promised it would be running and ready for marine service when the buyer took possession; certainly a full afternoon was sp...

Thanks for the information.

I phoned the manufacturer, but they don't ship to Canada. NAPA in Canada don't carry it, but I'll send an email to NAPA and Grainger in the US and see if either will ship to Canada.

Multi-grade gear oil; could this be the demise of Gulls...

I recently tried to purchase any amount of SAE 140 oil here in the Vancouver area. All I was able to find was multi-grade which is not much use in a Gull. I contacted the head office of every oil company in the country, only to be told it’s no longer produced. I was able to get a couple of quarts ...

Paint from Bill Hirsch Auto

I've made a reference to this in a couple of messages throughout the last two or three months. During that time I've restored a WSPCL and paid particular attention to the paint. The paints used are both from Bill Hirsch Auto of New Jersey http://www.hirschauto.com/ and bought from a local supplier h...

Is there a better product than gas to use for tank cleaning? I've always just thrown in a few ounces of gas into the tank installed the cap and given it a good shaking (tank off the engine of course).

Re: engine photos

Colin, Very nice. How did you polish your carb? Hi Charles. Let me go back about four decades if I may. I was setting up a BSA for a Show n Shine and someone (long since forgotten and very likely now deceased) told me that under all that battleship gray of the carburetor and engine side panels was ...

Engine photos

I've uploaded photos to Yahoo of my latest restoration a 1973 WSPCL. I realize some may not approve of minor changes I've made - a black flywheel - I don't like hammerhead paint; and the polished carburetor; it was good enough on my BSAs and Triumphs years ago at show and shines . http://ca.pg.photo...

But you're absolutely right, the challenge must go ahead. Despite the doubters I'm sure the Seagull reputation will remain untarnished. In the twenties Malcolm Campbell’s first Bluebird was powered by a V12 Sunbeam "Manitou" engine. That places British Seagull at the end of a line of th...

I'm ashamed to admit that the seller (crayford kent) lives only a couple of miles from the house I left fifty years ago. Surely not all of us living in the south were that mad!!!
