Re: Bored, so did this

When you are too old and frail to use the motor anymore, you can recycle the engine stand as some sort of aide to help with mobility

Re: Free boat plans?

I am not the first to mention this boat here, for an inexpensive option, try the Flint
That is my next build, I already have the plans.

Re: Good Guys .

Have you forgotten something on the motor with the brass tank? looks like it is missing a fuel line.
Good luck and have fun.

Love the carb clamp as a height adjustment device.

Re: Brass Tanks

I believe (and am happy to be corrected) that the 40s and the centuries had their fuel outlets on the opposite sides. I have a 40plus with a "universal" tank, it has landing pins on both sides of the tank.
Also has the decal at 90 degrees to common

Re: ?Marine? Ply

This fellow, Denman Marine seems to know what he is talking about, he is quoted as knowledgeable on many of the woodworking and boat building forums.
It is an interesting read if you are considering purchasing marine ply.
It could also be handy that he is only about 20Km down the road from me!

Re: Forty and Century restoration

After having the alloy components of my motor blasted during a restore, I was disappointed by the matt finish of the aluminium. However a quick polish with toothpaste and tooth brush soon had them gleaming like new. Then buff with clean rag.
Any surface that I did not want touched, I covered with ...

?Marine? Ply

Saw this for sale at the local hardware store in town:

This is sold as 12mm marine ply, has the correct Loyds of London stamp on it to. Maybe BS does not stand for British Standard after all?
Shows that you have to be careful ...

Re: Champion 8 COM

When I bought my WC102 it came with a new, unused 8 COM still in it's box, and all wrapped in wax paper.
I do not plan on using it. But I love showing it off!
Also came with an original carded "Seagull Spares Kit", complete except for the sparkplug. Another show-off piece

Re: 12' Flat Skiff

I would still go for the FLINT, the problem with cracking has always only appeared when using cheaper Asian sourced ply, the stuff I would use on the stressed portions would be good Bruynzeel ply from Europe. Fortunately I have a local supplier of the gold plated stuff, here is a link discussing the ...

Re: 12' Flat Skiff

Now you have me looking at a Flint as my next build, or even a Fleet if one ever appears.
I need to build something that doesn't have a flat bottom.

Re: 40+ on a 14' skiff

Another perspective shot, she certainly doesn't look 14'.
I am surprised that there was only 1 seagull there, given the 8 or so down here at the Hobart WBF.
But there was 1, and on the water, that is the main thing.

I finally finished the boat just in time for the Australian Wooden Boat Festival, 8th - 11th Feb 2013
Here is a pic of "Puffin" at the event with the 40+ in place
