I believe your 90 model has electronic ignition, so it seems likely it is either a faulty ignition module, or possibly the plug lead if you're lucky! you may be able to find an electronic ignition on Ebay. Not sure about interchangeability of magnetos on these newer models - here in Aberdaron we ...

John, can you confirm that the thread for the fuel pipe union is 2BA? A 2BA bolt fits well!

Weak mixture/wrong carb. or needle, incorrect fuel /oil mix - do you measure it out? Should be 10:1 - new unleaded fuel and 2 stroke oil not multigrade - preferably outboard 2 stroke but any 2 stroke would get it running OK if nothing else is wrong. Thanks, John, for the reply. I did some more homework and had already found the engine number on the tray, ENS36JJ3, so presumably Sept. '83. Does the "S" signify sealed gearbox, standard shaft, or something else?
I removed the plug and put a pencil through the hole onto the top of the piston ...

Getting a 170 running - any help appreciated!

Bought a 170 at the weekend, and I've been trying to get it running. Can't find an engine number (should it be in the same place as earlier Seagulls?). Initial examination showed it produced a blue spark with the plug resting on the block, engine turned by hand (recoil start). No sign at all of the ...
