PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!
after searching around i pushed the old piece of nylon out of the adjuster screw and replaced it with a piece of 2mm grass strimmer nylon wire cut slightly longer than the screw diameter.......nice snug fit...

i think that the nylon pin should be slightly tight as it is engaged with the thread in the piston but it doesn't seem to have any resistance to it...
could it be possible that the spring under the needle is weak as well???
is this is so can they be replaced with slightly stiffer ones!

villiers mixture adjustment
hi everyone,could you please help with suggestions regarding fuel mixture issue..... after 10>15 mins running my forty richens it's mixture by itself...causing it to eventually choke itself up and stop..... on investigation i have found that the small adjuster screw on top of the needle winds itself...

no i don't, i'm pretty new to the world of owning outboards, my forty is the first one but have been intrested in british engineering since leaving school! worked in the motor trade all my life.....worked on marine engines for 3yrs and thats where i got the bug! you know how it is...one thing leads ...

i usually get mine from the local vauxhall dealers, it's the stuff they use when rebuilding auto gearboxes but i would think that you could get it from any main dealers if you ask them..the tube stuff i use is green and costs £18 for a 125ml tube but it lasts for ages as you only need a small dab on...

hi there, locktite is pretty good but if you can get hold of some hydraulic joint sealing compound it works better because locktite isn't designed for oily applications.
i often use it in the motor trade where locktite has usually failed...
try it you will be surprised.
