what's the difference?

What's the difference between Mick Jagger and a Scottish Sheep Herder?

Mick Jagger says "Hey, you - get off of my cloud!"

Scottish Sheep Herder says "Hey, McCloud - get off of my ewe!"

(Sorry, weather here is getting too cold now for boating and boredom is setting in)

Re: do plugs wear out?

As Tinker said, Sand blasting and a regap brings them back to new. I have a few old ones lying around. Im going to build them up and take them to my friends house and do them all in his bead blast cabinet so i have a heap of spares.

that gives me a chance to show-off the home-brew bead blast ...

Re: do plugs wear out?

i'm thinking that a properly cleaned and gapped plug is good as a new one - at least i don't think you could tell the performance diff w/o instrumentation of some sort. i do have a glass bead blasting cabinet so i can clean them as Tinker suggests.

this is no big deal as plugs are cheap. i was ...

do plugs wear out?

Take a used spark plug in reasonably good condition. Wire brush it to remove crud, if necessary use a fine file to smooth and brighten electrodes, rinse in solvent to remove contaminants , and re-gap.

Will it now perfrom as well as a virgin plug fresh out of the box?

Is there anything within the ...

god bless my gull!

nice weather today, so i put my 40+ on the stern of my skiff and the wife and i went out looking for seals.

got out into the bay. that nice weather took a turn. winds picked up, swells grew accordingly so we headed back, good thing too, because soon those swells started breaking over and things ...

Re: The things that you find at boot sales.

That's the thing, you say S.U.V. Sport utility vehicle, I suppose we call them a four by fours.
Typically used to carry one small child to and from school and the only off road it will ever see is the gravel drive it sits on.

not all 4 x 4 are SUVs, a pickup truck for example can have 4WD w/o ...

Re: The things that you find at boot sales.

the "station wagon" body style was popular here back in the day. big as ships, often had fake wood grain on the sides and a new shiny one indicated that the owner was a reasonably succesful suburbanite with multiple kids and at least one dog. now replaced by the "mini-van" and/or S.U.V.

my wife ...

Re: The things that you find at boot sales.

Re: 40+ vs. Century +

i wasn't expecting or even wanting to plane, the 'gulls slow speed is fine with me for the putt-putt type boating my wife and I do on the small lakes, just didn't realize that the 40+ already had me at max speed - although if i had done the math for a displacement hull i would have figured it out ...

Re: 40+ vs. Century +

I thought all hulls were displacement until they reach a plane??

Love this add....

yea, i believe you're right. i guess i found the hull speed for my 12 footer. wasn't sure that the 40+ was pushing me at hull speed but looks like the Century's similar performance confirms that it was.

thanks ...

40+ vs. Century +

Got my Century Plus off the bench and into the water today for the first time. This is the first Century I've owned so I didn't know what to expect...

My 40+ will push my boat with my wife and aboard at a screaming 5.1 mph max (according to my GPS), and I was a bit puzzled when the Century ...
