So is it a gearbox/gearbox pinion shaft you think I need? It had also seized up! Ive got the head off, it and freed it off nicely now. I have sanded and chrome spray painted the rusty shaft in the pic which now looks quite good. The water pipe is straight and its all cleaning up quite nicely ...

There are some exhaust tubes on ebay so thats that sorted! I am just worried about the drive problem? Surely its not supposed to be driven by a split pin in a screw slot?

I think leaving well alone might be the best idea if nothing else just to save the time and effort. Gotta admit though, that polished tank does look the mutts nuts!

I have found some exhaust tubes on the evil bay so thats half the battle! Now I just need to see if someone ...

Stip and polish fuel tank?

Is it possible to remove the paint and polish the brass on the fuel tank? Has anyone done a good job of it? Any pictures? If not, what paint is best for the tank?
