possible overheating problems
I have had a WSPCL now for a few years and it always has a good healthy water outflow, easily as thick as a pencil.
Yesterday, an hour before dark and over a mile from my launch site it just suddenly stopped pumping water. With no other means or help I just had to chance it so turned the throttle ...

Re: Leaks when tilted
Are you definately sure it's gearbox oil? I used to think my silver century plus was leaking gearoil as it used to drip on the floor of the garage after use and it looked like used milky gearoil. It turned out to be congealed unburnt 2 stroke oil as after much searching (and questions on here) found ...

How much compression
What is an average healthy cylinder compression? I've tested my silver century and I'm averaging around 65 psi. Is this average, above or below? Thanks

Re: Leaking Crankcase
Thanks Phil.
So if the compression is more than 35lbs I'll leave well alone. Do you think I should re-seal the crankcase with gasket sealant or leave this well alone as well?
Usually caused by some undue strain or fall on tiller handle . I bought her off fleabay and this would tie in with why the ...

Re: Leaking Crankcase
What's at fault though? Is it normal for clean unburnt fuel to enter the crankcase? Do I put new rings in or just try to seal the crankcase or both? Thanks
ps the engine is a little awkward to start from cold (10 - 15 pulls) and needs to run on choke till its warm but runs well once warm. However ...

Leaking Crankcase
Took my silver century out today and noticed clean fuel leaking out of the crancase seal and sitting on the flat plate that the tiller bolts to. I wiped it away but it was back in seconds so it is continuously being forced through whilst the engine is running. Is it just the crancase seal or is it ...

Re: LEAKING GEARBOX
Right, I've took the propeller off. Next was a collar with a hollow pin, then there is a large washer and other than the selector is nothing else. The shaft other than having slight movement backwards and forwards is solid sideways and up and down, no play at all. Where should the oil seal be? There ...

Re: LEAKING GEARBOX
It may be a good idea to confirm that your problem is in fact related to oil seal/gasket. The oil seal is more of a grit seal, and does little to prevent oil leakage. If the gasket is faulty you should be able to see where the oil is leaking from.

LEAKING GEARBOX
I recently posted a thread about my recenctly aquired seagull had the gearbox full of grease instead of oil. I have since cleaned all the grease out and replaced with 140 gear oil. I've since run it up in the wheelie bin but noticed the day after gear oil floating on the water and have had to top up ...
