Outboard With Villiers engine

Re: chinese manufacturing
Speaking of Chinese outboards, my daughter purchased a Parsun Chinese outboard, they are water cooled & worked ok for a bout 12months regular work in & out to a Yacht, then sold it The main problem was it did not like running for very long over 3/4 throttle it would just stop & was then hard to ...

The problem appears to the large HV spike across the transistor. The solution appears to be fit a 1.5KE200A (1N6303A) Transorb . This seems to fix ...

Re: 1960-61 Forty Plus No spark alternatives?
Use this circuit to measure the voltage from the coil primary, you should get about 5-6Vdc when spining the flywheel. Its fairly rare for the primary windings to fail. The Mazda tribute coil. Has it got 2 or 3 pins on the conector? if its got 3 then its not suitable.

ATOM IGN MODULE improved.2.JPG Had a bit of a break through with finding a suitable switching transistor for this unit. I discovered 2SD1071 transistors were used in a Kawasaki motorbike ign system. It has a rating of 450V & works well in the circuit with Wipac & Villiers coils. The 2SD1071 ...
