HELLO
WE HAVE JUST BROUGHT A OLD SEAGULL FP FORTY WITH A BROKEN CARB INLET PIPE ON THE BLOCK,DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THE PIPE AND BLOCK ARE MADE FROM.SO WE CAN FIX THIS

hi , its cast iron, which is difficult to weld, you may be able to solder/braze it or repair carefully with epoxy resin, depending how it has broken, but being quite an important bit, you wouldn't want it to fall off in the middle of the med. look on ebay for a replacement block or get some oars. good luck. or indeed post a wanted ad on the wanted page.

Have a chat with John, phone number on home page of this site, before trying e-bay.
I would be very surprised if he does not have a new or secondhand one, and he will probably have any gaskets and nuts or bolts that you need as well.
At least if you buy from John, you can be sure that it will be in good condition, buy from e-bay, and it's BUYER BEWARE.

THANKS FOR THE ADVICE
WE NOTICED THE HIGH STEEL CONTENT OF THE BLOCK SO WE PREHEATED AND ARC WELDED USEING A STAILESS ROD.SEEMS OK!!
THE OLD SEAGULL JUMPED BACK TO LIFE YESTERDAY AND TODAY WE START MAKING THE BOAT TO PUT IT ON.WE ARE HAVING GREAT FUN
