Is it a Japanese engine from the 1970s?

Yes, it's a yamaha or mariner depending on its age. I have one languishing in the back of the shed.

Looks the spitting image of a late 70's Suzuki 2 hp outboard. They have complicated water cooling set up but instructions to dismantle /re assemble are on You Tube.

Thanks AusAnzani.....Seems our respective Mothers had the same idea (and good taste in boy's names) way back when !.

It seems you may be one of the people to talk to about the latest addition to my outboard collection :A 1957 British Anzani Pilot 1.5 hp ?.
It is certainly "different" from my Seagulls.

Ah yes, but it was probably advertised as a Seagull as are many other vintage outboards in Australia.

Happy to help out where I can, and will shoot you a pm with my number.

The Pilot was my first vintage outboard and is yet to be completed. Still can't decide what color to paint the tank

By the way, I have a little Elto on it's way from Adelaide. Should be here (Melbourne) in a couple of weeks or so. Looking forward to receiving that one!
