Come back Hadrian all is forgiven.

Here are some facts about Hadrian’s Wall, built by the Romans in the 2nd century AD.

Hadrian’s Wall is located in the north of England, not far from the border with Scotland. It stretches for about 73 miles, from Bowness on Solway on the west coast, to Wallsend on the east coast.
The 73 mile length was equivalent to 80 Roman miles. The Roman mile was based on the distance that a legion, or group, of soldiers could march in 2,000 steps.
The wall and most of its defenses were built between about 122 and 128 AD. Its purpose was to mark the northern extent of the Roman Empire, which then covered much of Europe.

It wouldn't have needed such a major construction if the natives to the north, the Pics & Scots had been a nicer bunch.

Emperor Hadrian

Under Hadrian's orders, the Roman governors of Britain began building the wall that would later be named for the emperor to defend the part of Britain they controlled from attack. In Hadrian's words, they wanted to “separate Romans from the barbarians” to the north..
Be warned we're still barbarians....and the sheep are still nervous

An Englishman, Scotsman and Welshman were at Paddy's funeral and the Englishman said

"Paddy was a really nice guy and I must be honest I owed him 20 quid before he died" So he gets out his wallet and puts 20 pounds on Paddy's coffin.

Then the Welshman says " I really liked Paddy and I owed him 30 Quid" So he gets out his wallet and puts 30 pounds on the coffin.

The Scotsman then says " Yeh Paddy was a great guy and I owed him 50 pounds" So he gets out his Cheque book and writes a cheque out for 100 pounds puts it on the coffin and takes 50 pounds change
