The Bitsa.
Look what happens when ye leave two a Century and 40 Plus alone for a week or two.
The purist should read no further.
A couple of years ago I picked up a box of Seagull parts at the Carrigfergus boat jumble.Haven't been back since .There were a lot of bits in it,including a couple of forty blocks and crankcases.
So I figured I might use them to Frankenstein a wee gull for my Mirror dingy, and see what could actually cobbled together from the bits.
I cut my own crankcase/block from gasket paper.
Son-in-law is model maker, robbed a piece of copper sheet from him and cut the head gasket from that.
Assembled crankcase and block
So a chat with Tam,thanks for the bitties.
Soaked and cleaned said bitties, threw the whole lot together, borrowed the tank and fuel line from the 40 Plus.
Because I was firing it up out of water and on a not too strong a bracket,I used the dreaded socket on a drill method. Two seconds later she's running.
So I closed it off and out of curiosity,I pulled it with the rope and away it went again.
There's no number on the crankcase,so probably NOS.
What it does show is the sturdiness of these wee single cylinder engines.
I plan to take a angle grinder to it and reduce it in length to fit on the Mirror, mind you I do have a height adjuster, but I think cutting might put less torque on the Mirrors transom.

Just click on attachment (next to options), then you will get a little "Add files" box, click on that and you can choose an image to place inline.
Checked, it is working.

I have gone and tested on another forum and the pics will upload. Just testing.
The pic I'm uploading is from my 40 Plus folder and it is loading fine.So it's the folder where I have the pics.So I'll need to sort that somehow.
Tam "Sister Sara's" it is

Re: The Bitsa.
Well it's got all it's own bits and up,running and pumping water.
I'm either getting good at this ,or all the parts from Tam were top class.
I have video but at 43mbs,it might be a bit big to upload.
Now to get out the tape measure and angle grinder

Re: The Bitsa.
Frankenstein has been at work.
Well,it's cut, anyone need bits for an extension?
3 1/2" shorter and a fear that it's an inch short :oops:I worked on the premise that the cavation plate should be level with the bottom of the hull. Except there's a keel here I'll see when I give it a test run, hopefully soon.

Re: The Bitsa.
Took her out yesterday afternoon and She ran beautifully, after a hiccup or two
After awhile she started to miss, and run poorly. It turned out to be the timing screw had loosened
