Idiot's guide to fuel please

So having used chainsaws that I added a pre measured oil to, and being totally crap at maths, how much oil would I add to 4ltrs of petrol for the 10:1 mix for the seagull?
And any 2 stroke oil or something special

At 10:1 then 4 litres which is 4000cc or 4000ml if you prefer would need 400ml of oil.
I'll leave it to others to recommend a specific oil.

I have heard it said that a Seagull will be ok with multigrade in a pinch. Haven't tried it myself. Be nice to the environment and buy TCW3 which is biodegradable.

I'd recommend TCW3 because its biodegradable. The brand is irrelevant unless you intend to go racing, and only then if you supe up your engine, and even then any synthetic blend will do. Here's a cut-out-and-keep handy-dandy table for the use of...

Hello Steve,

A note of caution.

TCW2 or 3 oils are recommended for Seagulls as they work at lower temperatures than oils for chainsaws, do not get them mixed! You cannot hug an air cooled motor when it is hot! they get a lot hotter, be it a lawn mower, chainsaw or even my old BSA Bantam. Different oils for them!

Also TCW3 oil comes as a mineral oil, a semi-synthetic, a synthetic (pricey sometimes!!) and as a bio oil, the bio oil costs twice as much as normal 2T, but if you are using the Seagull where there may be a pollution concern, I would recomend it. (Freshwater lakes used for fishing etc.) For normal use my cheaper 2T oil is fine.

All my seagulls have run on Bio degradable oil, as and when I have used them, for the last 20 years now.

On no account use a multigrade, if you want to treasure your Seagull for a decade more!

I don't think so but what l did learn was that UK industry was directed to produce goods for the export market to increase the coffers after WW2. Excellent record were kept by BSA and this one left the factory on 24th of October '1950 and was freightered to a dealer in Melbourne. We have a lot of early 102's in Oz and we were probably targeted as a prime market for gulls as well. Lots of books on BSA Bantams but not so for Seagulls.... l find that surprising.

Yep, that is the same as mine except I've got a pillion saddle instead of the rack. Just need to collect a few more parts and reassemble. I need to get a bike licence too. I used to ride with just an 'L' plate but they are stricter 40 years on now..

Bantams and Seagulls seem to go together. Just to prove the point, here is a photo of my good self, off to school, on my first registed motorcycle. The photo was taken in 1971.
