Tam,
That looks a really nice original ( as you say except for the gearbox) little used example.
Its interesting that lots of these later FVPs have the canted oval tanks. Perhaps, as its basically the same shape as the contemporary LS tank, that it might have been an original option or the standard fitment. What do you think Tam?
The flywheel date looks like 5/52, which would be about right. Have I read that correctly?
The carb spec interests me. Could you tell me:-
1.Has the bowl got a drain hole near the top? 2. Has the choke shutter got a hole? 3. Has the carb got a throttle stop?
Its nice to see the transom security bar appears to be the early 'L' shaped nickel plated flattened end type. Is the transom bracket a 4" one, or the later 5.4" one?
Sorry for all the questions!
Cheers,
Jeremy

Re: One more
That looks good. Is it for FVP10693 or for FV2923?
I think the FVs are excellent Seagulls for small dinghies. last week I spent 5 days messing around on the Yealm estuary in South Devon with FV1867T on the back of a 9 foot dinghy. The small round tanks need filling up quite often!

Hi Tam,
Thanks for the info on FVP10693. It all helps to establish the probable correct spec, especially with data from a little used and possibly not previously rebuilt unit.
You mention putting the tank in the oven. Is that to bake the paint?
Did you see in the news that a bottle of a 1926 Macallan single malt fetched £813,000 !!!
Does one drink it, or just look at it, or just hope it is worth more next year?
Bottoms up!
