A nice example of an early SD.... cast tank mounts, starboard nipples.

Interesting fuel cap. Note the SD bayonet breather. Wonder what the story of that is.

It seems you've got the wrong impression with me when i notice certain things crop up from time to time.

True, this one is not entirely as it should be, and rightly said it has a history, just like the last one.
From my perspective it's interesting to see just what bits exactly seem to get changed over the years for whatever reason.
Don't get me wrong, this is what it is after years of service and you could easily forgive the fact some of the original 1940's parts this would have had have been "replaced" perhaps down to it seeing a lot of use. Things wear out, things break, things get damaged. It's only now that we can begin to see with some of these older gulls if there's a common theme to which stuff wears out and breaks. I'm not ripping anybody a new ***hole, i'm just curious to see other people's ingenuity in keeping this old stuff alive.
It's still a nice old thing though.

Nice one, requires a new owner with deeper pockets than mine, nice to see the paperwork too.

I remember seeing that letter from British Seagull before. This engine was on eBay a while back. Obviously being flipped for double the money!

Best of luck at that price.

You would think that if someone is going to take the time in restoring a motor and asking for that kind of money, that they wouldn't cut corners.
A stainless exhaust and tiller and a a painted drive tube, with the paint already coming off.

Well spotted Jacob. I think you are correct. Looks like cast tank mounts so it is an early one.

Edit: Heard from owner. It is SD.6320.L3. It is already listed on register.
