Removing gearbox on 40 plus.

Post by Fenlander »

My manual is on the way from John soon but for something I wanted to do today I wondered if the gearbox/prop assy come off the drive/exhaust downtubes easily?

Is it just a case of undoing the bottom clamp bolt on the drive tube and then pulling the whole gearbox assy off?

If there is more to it than that I will wait for the book to arrive!

No. According to Service sheet No. 1 you remove the two vertical screws. (One in front of the drive tube and the other between the drive tube and the exhaust tube.) If these are difficult first remove the power head (That's where you'll need one of the special spanners!) then apply moderate heat to facillitate the removal of the screws.

Sorry they wont let me post a copy of the service sheet. Copyright or something. Bu@@er really as they were given away for free by British Seagull, now you have to buy the whole book!
