seagulls in the movies ??

Post by timberman2004 »

yup ..i appear to be back
Oh dear you all cry ...well, the older ones anyway

seagulls in a starring movie role ??? ...any offers ??

1st murder in The Talented Mr Ripley ...Seagull not implicated at all ..but the only outboard in the whole film
sadly quite the wrong model for the early '50s period (square tank)
sad being an anorak on such matters
Neal...errrr... an ON, OP, 2xSD, F, 3xSJP, LLS, 2xFV, FVP, FPC, CPC WPCL, WSC, and a few eggs hatching, hopefully

Hi Neal, glad you made it back to the forum.

The "Body Guard" has a Silver Century in it

It blows up

Will you be bringing your boat and engines out next year?

Didn't know Gulls were prone to blowing up :o
Hmm...that gives me an idea to maybe devise an engine wrap-around "body-guard" ??? :P

Last nights "The Girl" BBC2 showed Sienna Miller getting out of a boat with a seagull outboard. A repro of a scene from the opening shots of "the Birds".
I haven't looked at the original yet

Well spotted. Iplayer is a great thing! I doubt the lady in question would be looking so fabulous after negotiating those waters in a small seagull powered boat :D Some great period cars etc in that programme. I wonder where they get them all from?

You'd be suprised how many Seagull owners own a damm fool vehicle.
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Red Water -- channel 5 late monday night. Grandad and grandson in a pram dinghy ; small seagull . Grandad get eaten by a bull shark. 6 year grandson must have started the outboard and hidden under a cover. 10 minutes into the film the boat (outboard still running with no one steering arrives at and bumps into the town jetty)

opening ceremony Commonwealth games had pretend seagull outboards on the back of pretend boats. Plus tunnocks teacakes of course.

There's a Seagull in at least one episode of Poirot.

Sorry for offtopic, as this is not a movie but a comic strip: from Moomin "Sniff's Holiday Camp" (Lars Jansson, 1962). Could that be a Seagull in Moominpappa's boat? There's some resemblance, I think.

I remember watching a war movie with Anthony Quinn (I think!) taking the part of a Greek partisan, I think on Crete. He makes his escape from the island on a small wooden rowing boat with a Seagull on the back.

I think that there was a problem starting the motor that raised the tension as the enemy were closing in.

I will try and find out which movie it was.
