Removing a fuel line [Forty Plus]

Hi, just looking for a little advice - there's a little bit of black debris at the bottom of the fuel line that I'd like to clean out; when I turn the nut near the fuel tap, the tap turns as well instead of releasing the line.

I'd be grateful if someone could answer my newbie questions:
  • Should I immobilise the tap?
  • Which way should I turn the nut?
Thanks!

You can hold the tap with a pair of pliers while you unscrew fuel line nut counter clockwise. Then the tap should unscrew from the tank easily by hand. You can clean/check both then put tap back on first tightly before attaching fuel line. Probably good to check the tap cork while you have it off.

Thanks, I didn't want to force anything. Hadn't thought of checking the tap, so will do that. Guess SOS will have tap cork spares if I need one.

Cheers!

If you hold the fuel tap with the smooth jaws of an adjustable spanner you will be less likely to leave marks on the fuel tap body from the pliers serrated jaws.

Then strip down tap and boil the plunger remember and put a little vasaline on Cork failing that John should have new ones
