hi newby here..... got black oil running out of bottom of exhast pipe cover .......... wheres that coming from as i thought theres no oil in the top part of a seagull............. regards harry

Seagulls are two stroke outboards, either run on 10:1 or 25:1 Petrol: Two stroke oil mix depending on which model you have. The black oil you see coming out of the exhaust is just the left overs from the combustion process.

Which seagull have you got?

Is it up and running or are you doing a restoration job on it?

hi...... 40 plus long, fpl 458bb3 runs ok was going to take apart to find where oil coming from but now not going to.......£30 car boot sale, no oil in prop part but i understand it needs filling almost every trip, thanks for reply and saving me trying to undo those screws.

Wish I could buy them that cheap where I live. It's sae140 oil in the gearbox, you might need to go to a farm supplies shop or such like to find it.

Plenty more tips here.
