What paint

Post by Griffin71 »

As I slowly make progress in my 40 restoration, What is the best paint for the lower parts, the prop and gearbox :?:
The brass tank and flywheel I redid in enamel and lacquer, what about below the water line :?:

Hammerite smooth in silver is a close match. I've used it on some of my gulls before now and gives a good durable finish for gearboxes and props.

But of course the choice is yours. :P

But don't drip petrol on it for at least a month!

The tecnical info on hammerite states that it's fully cured in six weeks.... also interesting enough that it can handle temperature up to 130 to 200 degrees C depending on how it's been applied, it was just something I looked up a few weeks ago, nothing better to do as I'm a little immobile at the moment.....

Is it suitable for aluminium though.
I have always used an etching primer with it.
