Re: Where should I start
Today was the day, new fuel added all the bolts tightened but not overtight
Wheely bin filled and Seagull mounted
I pulled the cord and it started first pull
Then it ran for a few seconds, before cutting out
I checked the fuel tap and it is set right
I checked and its pumping water just fine
The Throttle works as it should
I checked and can't see any cracks in the block
I know the fuel mix is spot on
Anyone care to take a guess?

Re: Where should I start
No grinding or rattling, it sounds just fine it started again first pull then ran for maybe a minute and cut out
could it simply be the choke, I don't know if the blade of the choke should be inside where it goes or outside
the first photo is what I mean by inside
the second one is what I mean by outside

Re: Where should I start
Well done. Sounds all is in order.
The choke should be inside when you start it. Then when it starts, move the choke to the outside position.

Re: Where should I start
Inside is choke on, outside is choke off. Normally choke on, then once running back it off as the engine will warm fairly quickly.
Re: Where should I start
Thanks Oyster, that helped both with starting and for the future
I have it sorted now and it's running perfectly
the problem was as Hugz pointed out earlier in this topic, a blocked fuel line,
I thought I had cleaned it but after talking to a pal and reading here I took it off again
Accidently found the filter removed it and another soak in Carb cleaner I found some crud, flushed it out problem solved
I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning
video to follow

Re: Where should I start
Silly question, did it gave a prop on?
Re: Where should I start
Hi Keith, no I took it off, well actually I took off the spring and left the prop loose, someone earlier on here suggested it.

Re: Where should I start
They probably said remove the prop, but take care not to over rev!
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
Re: Where should I start
Some do some don't, I don't only because, I don't play with the later motors so much and you do get motors from time to time that will start and run perfectly without a prop, but not with one on, I haven't had a problem with water circulation with a prop on, so never needed to remove the prop, I think you can overrun a motor too easy without a prop.
Re: Where should I start
I did slow it down, I guess it wasn't over 3/4 throttle
was it still too fast?

Re: Where should I start
Excellent! I noticed your HT lead is quite close to the cylinder head. Watch out for it shorting and causing a possible problem. Enjoy using it! What you also need is a nice 102...
Re: Where should I start
Haha Oyster, I can actually see me with more than just one
I will have a look at that HT lead and see if I can do anything with it
now I need to get some time off work and take the Seagull fishing
