Hi All,

I've my fathers old seagull SDP 10866 - which is looking for a loving home - it turns over fine with compression / ran in a barrel a few years back but will probably never see active use with me so keen for it go somewhere it'll be appreciated.

There a "skeletal" bronze bracket with it.

I'll try to post some pictures but it may be easier if anyone interested gives me their email address as I've had problems loading pictures in the past.

I listed this engine previously but struggled to let it go, largely for emotional / sentimental reasons but although these are still there, there's a reaslisation its better with a.n.other who'll restore / cherish etc.

Little idea of value or demand for such items but trusting that you'll keep me right...

thanks in anticipation

Oooh! I don't have yours on the SD register. There is a cluster of SDP's around that # range. For the uninitiated the SDP is the wartime version with the direct drive box. The SDP only appears to represent about 10% of the SD's produced. May l ask you some questions ie the JM magneto number which is found under the domed lid on the flywheel. Love some photos if you are in a clicking mood. BritishSeagullSd@gmail.com l can load them on here if you wish. Does she have the CIESS stamp on the skeg? Exciting! About the same birth date as Freddie Mercury.....

Did you know that Glasgow raised the most money from wartime government bonds to build armoured tanks during WW1? There was a competition to see which towns could raise the most. Ironically the same tanks were stationed there to control the communist rabble after WW1.

ps. Any visitors who have an SD can email me to have their motors on the register.

How many engines do you have logged now Hugo? Top work 8)

SDP engines seem to be an enigma, to be sure. Most seem to be direct drive with later SD numbers around the 10000 mark. The army parts book I have does not show a direct drive gearbox, so my suspicion is that these were privately sold. However will we ever know?

About 50. Approx 0.5%! Long way to go. I know of least another 20.

Hi thanks for all the replies.

I'll try to take a few pictures later and find the various numbers detailed.

I'll send these to "Hugz" and hope he can post on here for me.

As far as I know my father bought it in the early sixties where it had been used previously on a trout loch near Ullapool in the West Highands of Scotland. I have many memories of trips in our boat on Loch Broom, admiring the "beautiful" (?) oily pattern on the water when priming and the lovely noise and smoke trail along the lochside.....

Thanks again

No worries! I'm in OZ so a bit far from me to buy. Nice bracket. Original chain, pin and V bracket. You don't often see those complete.

Our esteemed brethren from across the Tasman made some parts for the skeletal which I note you require. Brass too!
