I think we need to apologise to Raymond here for having his thread hijacked. I hope a satisfactory outcome will be achieved for this motor.

Regards, Hugo.

Yeah, sorry Raymond.

Still has some potential despite what we've said. Don't mind us as we get carried away sometimes.

Hugz, you know where to find me :P

Has Raymond advised his asking price? I can't see it in this thread.

Thanks Hugz, I had completely missed all of that

Price sounds fairly reasonable. It's a shame it's not closer.

Hi guys, I checked the prices for shipping and it comes to between 50 and 60 euros. I will try to see if the Magneto is still works as soon as I figure out how to do it. Are there any other photos or numbers you need??
Cheers,
Ray

Hi Hugo,
Regarding the Mag coil. I am not sure where the plug lead is which goes into the bottom of mag coil. I found a wire which goes across from a brass plate to the coil and tested that for continuity and it lit up, but it could also be a ground wire. (see picture)
I'd love to restore it myself but I simply do not have the space.

That lead would be going to the primary which is a heavier wire and rarely fails. The coil has two windings one on top of the other. Works as a step up transformer as well as producing an emf as a permanent magnet passes it, very clever. On the underside side of the coil is a soldiered round disc which is accessible from under the base plate. This should have a small resistance to earth. If bad it will be open circuit.

That price to UK I presume 8)

Thanks, I have the details required. Many thanks.

Nice to see you back Neal.

There was some talk about meeting up at the riverside pub in Wallingford, we used to frequent sometime during the summer, but I think that ideas been dropped, I know H-A & Peter 40TPI are up for it, how about you & do you still have the boat with red sails?
