FOR SALE SD.10641.L4

Post by BEARMAN89 »

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

a wartime SD 102. for sale. mostly complete missing spark plug and ht lead and propeller.

engine turns over with good compression, dog clutch is working

Good basis for restoration or collector

I have been informed that some parts may not be original, (to be fair i would be surprised if i have all my original parts at 71).

maybe good to someone,

Nice! You are correct in surmising that some parts are not original but a good example. Cambridgeshire is a bit far from me but I'm sure you will find a forever home for her....

Tiller mount has broken off the crank, so the crank is going to need to be replaced for another of similar ilk, tank, tank mounts and ignition system are all later parts, shame about damage.
You would be amazing at what you can find after 70 year. :P

Has a clever repair not dissimilar to the FV and FVP's. Jann has those I think (crankcase halves).

Yes crank halves are about, my SD had the same problem and I was able to obtain a spare pair from Jan, one of our members who lives in the Netherlands not far from Amsterdam. He holds some old stock SD parts, worth trying him.

You a slightly later tank, magneto, and tiller, all post war. However earlier parts can be found by sniffing around on eBay, and here too.

Hmm, i looked at this one the other night and came to the conclusion it's a parts motor at best.
The cylinder looks as though there's some nasty's in it.

It might be of some use to somebody, but as it is there's a lot that's been changed which would need putting right if you were that fussy. Easy if you've got the parts already.
Not for me though, i've got one already (and one of its other siblings)

If it was in Oz l would buy it at a sensible price. Looks like (from my phone) a stamped box.

I have, and you'd be wrong.
To date there's less than 20 that i've accurately managed to log.
Pitiful really. Must do a bit more to that some day.
