I purchased this from Boyd some time ago knowing full well it would be a fiddly time consumer to pull down.

Yeh.

Block is stuffed at the cooling outlet. I have another block so getting the head removed is now a really gentle process from the studs/corrosion. The head may just be OK fingers crossed. I have a head if required.

Coil has ruptured at one end.

Base plate locating screw is going to take time as well.

Piston is stuck at bottom which is the best place. No rust in bore just dry as. It will come out when head is detached safely.

A LOT of heat to get to this stage (ever growing pile of bits). New gas bottle brought into play yay!

Gearbox cap is rubbish. I have spares.

I have another FV which I will pull down while getting the head free. Or FVP I have to do some gardening to find it....

Applying Phosphoric acid to studs through head areas 3 times a day.

For seven days.

When ready the liquid will soak down the studs quickly then time to strike.

Not had a gearbox this bad for years.

Cap from FV-2844 is Ok so will be used for FV-3302 which has a skeg' and outside is cool.

I have chosen to not just use a spare mint Gearbox at this stage as far too early between these two old dears.

It will be one out of two yes.

Well 2844 is going to be the power head to rebuild.

3302 is glued together with stuff knows what but is defeating the normal getting an Old Dear apart kind of thing.

Seeing no actual interest/discussion ongoing I will hold any further until maybe sorted in the future.

I am persisting however.

3302 remains "stuck together".

More time yes.

Not a case for a bigger hammer as that is when things that you want to salvage are broken.

Not the piston a problem at the moment even if it stuck.

The head will not come off.

The barrel will not move anywhere.

I have put so much heat into this as defies all logic. Everywhere aye.

I have used a very small Oxy tip at "near star temps" in micro application.

Nup just staying stuck.

There is a limit as to how hard you can use hammers/blocks of wood and cuss words as gloves turn to ashes.

I want the head so the limit of breaking it is reached as of now.

So what I have goes into a large plastic tub under the bench for a while...let it just sulk ignored for a while.

Best thing is 1960 Merc60 6Hp gets more love from now which is progress aye.

EDIT: Actually I will throw...I mean throw it into a container of ATF. Then let it sulk with them apples!
