I am now officially retired.
Super income stream first payment in the bank, a whole heap of projects to finish and many many Old Dears waiting my attention.
I have been planning for this the last 5 years or so. Closed my business with no debt outstanding with no problems. It was a gradual process ending with a $12.00 Tax Office refund today actually. That was gold to me as the taxman paying you to "go away and do not come back" indicates I played fair the last 25 years.
Cleaning out the boat and new transmission in the wagon to go bush South West WA for a few weeks. Get away from everything to regroup my thoughts and regain self.
Yeh well, there you all go. A new adventure as all new for me from now on aye.

I went through approximately the same process a couple of years ago, and it's thoroughly enjoyable from now on, mate. Have fun!

Did the same a few years ago, try & avoid the Hand Brake slowly applying itself.
Don't put anything off, the window of opportunity isn't that wide!

Thank you gentlemen.
The very best part is;
1. Dressing every morning with what I want to wear mismatch probably on purpose maybe not.
2. Grow hair out for 12 months and then a minor trim as required.
3. Buy a few HAWAIIAN SHIRTS and
4. Clothes from op shops only.
Time will tell.

Hi all,
I stopped working for a meal 19 years ago.
I am very glad of my freedom, but:
When I worked I found time off to accomplish many others activities. Now, among Seagulls, boats, motor bikes, house, garden, grandchildren, travels, etc., I am always behind what I am planning to do.
I wonder if I 'm less efficient or I "put too much meat on the fire" or both.
Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm with Sandro on this one...
I made the mistake of thinking that retirement was all about putting one's feet up and relaxing. Was lucky enough to be able to retire quite early - but In the ensuing years I've become so busy that these days I wouldn't have time to go to work even if I wanted to. Am I enjoying it? You bet I am!

Yes - retirement is a dream. Do not have to work for a living !
I am at last able to be the 'lord of the manor' - except I didn't get a title and have sod all to live on. However said 'manor' - which was bought by by parents for £450 is now worth £300,000 +
...so one day soon its going - and I get a run down farmhouse in the middle of nowhere to play with for 100 grand and have the rest spare.
Then I can be a proper lord of the manor and afford said tweed suit and posher spanners.
At which point - knowing my luck I get run over by a country bus.

Retiring life is still new to me but all of the above experiences will be a great help I am sure.
New fields with exploration underway aye.
I find myself in a rather good position financially in that I own the family home and 1/4 acre on which it plonks on downtown Doubleview Perth.
Built in 1952 by Mum and Dad. Long gone now.
I am surrounded by modern homes, 3 to 5 on one block which are ALL rented. That would be between $AU 560.00 - 750 per week for something that can not swing a rotary clothes line?
This one thing enabled me to pull the pin at 60.
Plus again is that I can make as much noise during working hours as I like. Also I make as much noise as I like (within reason of course) after hours actually just because I never get a complaint from estate agents...they want to buy my property...NAH!
Minus side is I am here alone during the week...nobody over any fences to hear a call.
If that is the only downside then so be it.
