Having just done a Forty Plus which was a brown or dirty gold shade on and under the flywheel, I am now doing a second one for a friend who wants to take it on his boat to Portugal when he finds a place to keep his boat.
I have bead blasted the removed flywheel clean, the outer ring was silver, under the black plastic cover ring and under the flywheel it was the same brown or dirty gold that was on the Forty just finished.
Both motors are dated to 1974, should they be gold or silver?
Advice on a series Forty Plus paint shade ?

If you read some of the old threads you will see that we are always asking for the serial number, this gives almost all the data required, what make of ignition do you have? does it have points?
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.

Thanks for your reply, the serial number is FP740 DD5 , the ignition is Wipac and points, with black cover over the flywheel.Charles uk wrote:If you read some of the old threads you will see that we are always asking for the serial number, this gives almost all the data required, what make of ignition do you have? does it have points?

All Wipac points ignition flywheels were the same colour, that brownish bronze colour.
