Middy engine carb, Amal
I have just checked my Britannia Middy motor out, will the Amal fit a Seagull was the idea?
The answer is no as the mount has a two bolt fastening.
This motor has never run, so I can call it New old Stock, its never even had petrol in it and I still have the original packing crate.
The engine has a power leg and a bronze propellor, let me know if you want to see more of this engine?

The carb, I am assuming it is an Amal?
It has a hand lever for the throttle and a flat flange that bolts to the engine block.

It is indeed an Amal carb - it should be cast into the float bowl, but on the side hidden away from you on the picture. On Britannias, they were normally fitted with a circular intake cover with a fan-type choke arrangement.

Thanks, yes I can feel writing on the otherside of the fuel bowl and I have the fan type air intake, as someone in the UK kindly posted one to me.

Some images of my Britannia Middi engine.
If you click on a selected image it will enlarge for a better size.
I took the unit apart and bead blasted the parts that I could, hence the new looking motor in some pictures.

Awesome.
I want it lol
Have only come across one here in Aus, compleley seized and missing the entire lower half. Asking price was ridiculous too.

S

Re: Middy engine carb, Amal
As can be seen, this one is complete and even has its original packing crate.
The Champion spark plug caps are not included, they did not come with the motor.
Make me an offer on it all ?

Re: Middy engine carb, Amal
You might be disappointed with what you get offered for your midi Mr. Imp, I saw a new one still with some wrapping & in it's box, sell a few years ago for £50 & that one hadn't been visited by the Bead blaster, which here in the UK is frowned upon & would detract from it's value as it would loose some of it's honesty!
Patina!
Patina!
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
Re: Middy engine carb, Amal
Unfortunately, Britannias don't attract buyers - at least in this part of the world, for what I believe was a well specified outboard, especially in comparison to the other offerings of the day.
Not the case with yours, but their Achilles heel was their cylinder barrels, which had a propensity to rot out.
A Midi will really only be of interest as a static exhibit to any potential collector.
