Bought a crate...finally

Post by Hugz »

Funnily this is the same model as my first gull which in my naivety already had a rusted barrel and only lasted a year plus the crank was bent but nevertheless I paid $300 many years ago. I do have fond memories though and have it as a parts motor. Now this one comes with a crate! Plus some paperwork. Hope that big bunch of paperwork is all seagull related. No transom bracket I see which would have put other buyers off. I'm happy touch wood. I'll probably use this more than my AD, has more grunt.

Scroll down, It's the second motor.

Thanks, only an enthusiast would see the beauty in such a box that time has exquisitely distressed

Fingers crossed and there may well be bonus termites or white ants.

Fantastic. Research and reality meet. This model has the "Instarter Magnition" Woo Hoo. And this crate. Left click, you know the drill.

Ok, have got the crate home. Motor is in great condition. Very cute LS. 1955 model like me. Deciphering the crate. Top of lid says Made In England. Next is a diagonal square with DGM S. Under that is SYDNEY then S7. At bottom is GROSS LBS 00. Dont know what is before the 00. The sides has BRITISH SEAGULL one normal other upside down. Same on both sides. Nothing appears to be on the ends. Square nuts hold plate on that the bracket attaches to. Any idea what DGM stands for? Destination.... G.....M.....

Oh I'm a bit slow... DGM = Dangar, Gedye & Malloch. Sydney distributor from about 1948... Previous research useful!

Same as Bruce's has Overland, the name of the distributor in Brisbane, Qld, Aus.

I think it is now says 90lbs. Probably less after the borers
